New Armenia Front members hand over a message to the OSCE Yerevan Office

Members of the New Armenia Front running against the Constitutional Reform in Armenia have handed over their statement to the OSCE Office in Yerevan.

According to a member of the New Armenia Front, Syuzanna Simonyan, the message alarms that the government has intensified the political persecution against Zhirayr Sefilyan, the leader of the Union Opposition Headquarters, which impedes the agitation against the Constitutional amendments.  "The authorities have started using threats and political persecution ahead of the referendum," she said.

Simonyan said the companies of the message will be submitted to 12 embassies in Armenia. "We want to show that legitimate election process are impossible in Armenia," she said. The oppositionist said the Front is determined to change power in the country and will start that process as early as on December 1. 

Late at night on November 10, a group of Police officers visited Zhirayr Sefilyan, the leader of the United Opposition Headquarter running against the president-initiated Constitutional Amendments, and demanded him to appear before the Investigation Committee on November 11 in the morning for interrogation over the case on organizations of civil unrest on April 24 2015.

The case was initiated on April 7, but all the suspects were released for recognizance not to leave. According to the United Opposition Headquarter press-office, Sefilyan did not let the police officers in his apartment, but promised to contact the investigator over the issue. "The United Opposition Headquarters assesses such actions as a failed attempt to exert pressure on the Headquarters and its leader, which shows the panic and fear of the Government," the press- office says.
To recall, Zhrayr Sefilyan has said recently that United Opposition Headquarters is determined to achieve a power change in Armenia by all means possible.
