Armenian Ombudsman Office came out with  a statement due to incident with Zaruhi Postandjyan

ArmInfo. Armenian Ombudsman Office came out with  a statement due to incident with Zaruhi Postandjyan, the law maker of Armenian Parliament and the candidate for mayor post.

" Al the materials related to the incident mentioned  were carefully reviewed at the Ombudsman office, particularly in respect  to police officers actions and attempts to take Postandjyan at the police station during the incident. In this respect the Ombudsman office states that police officers bear a must to respect human rights, to show tolerance in respect to any citizen and especially in respect to people participating to political processes. Police officers should be respectful and impartial. These are the requirements set by law and compulsory for observance by all the law enforcement employees. All the documents regarding the police actions are summarized by Ombudsman's office  and will be sent to law enforcement entities within a claim to raise an investigation," the  Ombudsman office statement reads.

To remind, today in Yerevan community of Avan the police used violence  to lawmaker  Zaruhi Postandjyan,  the candidate for mayor's post, who, in accordance with Armenian regulations,  has an immunity status.  Particularly, several policemen forcibly pushed Postandjyan out of the  electoral office of Republican Party in Avan, and pulled  her to the police car. All the attempts of Postandjyan to escape were in vain, three officers held her tightly and kept on pulling to the car. Law maker's shouts and protests .  However, policemen could not force her to sit in the car, but her daughter has been taken to the police station of Nor Nork. All the attempts of ArmInfo to get  an official comment from the Police if the actions of police officers were legitimate, have not succeed by now.
