Margvelashvili: One thing is clear - for us, small nations, conflicts  can be fatal

ArmInfo.Ara Babloyan, Chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia and members of the parliamentary delegation led by him met with Georgian President  Georgi Margvelashvili.

The Georgian president, speaking of Georgian-Armenian diplomatic  relations, noted the obvious progress of relations between the two  countries in 25 years and noted that Georgia is always ready to  discuss with any issue with Armenia, to maximize the development of  relations in all areas. The President is satisfied with the existing  cooperation between the legislative bodies of the Republic of Armenia  and Georgia in the sphere of parliamentary diplomacy. Turning to the  NK problem, he expressed his heartache for the Armenian-Azerbaijani  conflict and said: "It's clear that for us, small nations, such  conflicts can be disastrous." We pray for peace in the region. "

In his turn, Ara Babloyan touched upon the settlement of the Nagorno  Karabakh conflict and NA Speaker A.Babloyan noted in particular:  "Armenia highly values the role of Georgia in the issues of regional  security of the South Caucasus and expects a balanced position of  Georgia in the settlement of the NK problem. our view that a peaceful  settlement of the NK conflict has no alternative.The NK problem,  being a human rights issue, can be resolved only through the free  self-determination of the people of Artsakh. " The head of the  Armenian parliament stressed that the arms race unleashed by  Azerbaijan is a serious threat for all countries of the region.

Head of the National Assembly, presenting the directions of  parliamentary work, in particular, noted that a group of  Armenia-Georgia friendship was formed in the legislative body, headed  by the NA Vice Speaker, aimed at active and versatile activities. The  speaker noted that the parliament is ready to do everything possible  to further deepen the Armenian-Georgian relations within its powers.   On the same day, the RA National Assembly delegation headed by NA  Speaker A. Babloyan met with Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilya  II.
