Analyst: The absence of Aliev`s statement from Geneva about the dates  of fulfillment of Vienna and St.  Petersburg agreements will mean the  fiasco of Armenian negotiators

ArmInfo.The Geneva meeting of Aliyev and Sargsyan is remarkable only by the agreement of the Armenian side against it, despite the absence of any progress in the  implementation of the prevention mechanisms, as well as the  investigation of incidents on the contact line between the Armed  Forces of Azerbaijan and Artsakh. Such an opinion was expressed by  ArmInfo ex- NKR Foreign Minister, independent analyst Arman Melikyan.

The meeting of the Presidents of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and  Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev is held in Geneva.  The meeting was initiated  and conducted with the mediation of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk  Group.  The last meeting of Sargsyan and Aliyev took place in June  2016 in St. Petersburg. Earlier in the same year, a similar meeting  was held in Vienna.  The analyst notes that the OSCE field mission  led by Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk does not fulfill any visible new  functions, despite the fact that for a year and a half the Armenian  society has been feeding stories that the Azerbaijani side, in the  course of the Vienna and St. Petersburg talks, gave these principle  of agreement.  In this light, according to Melikyan, most likely all  the participants in this negotiating farce agreed that a year and a  half was enough for the Armenian society to calm down and it is  already possible to start the next stage of twisting arms and  psychological pressure.

"If today Ilham Aliyev does not personally declare in Geneva that  agreements of a year and a half have taken place and will be  implemented in the near future, and also do not specify a specific  date for their implementation, it will be possible to state with  confidence that the Armenian negotiators were in full flight. , this  will mean that Serzh Sargsyan himself and his entire team of  diplomats-propagandists all this time maliciously drove their own  people behind their nose, "the analyst said.

The agreement on the organization of the meeting of the Presidents of  Armenia and Azerbaijan was reached in the presence of the OSCE Minsk  Group co-chairs in New York on September 24 by the Foreign Ministers  of Armenia and Azerbaijan Edward Nalbandian and Elmar Mammadyarov.   After the April aggression of Azerbaijan, with more than 100 victims  from the Armenian side, Yerevan insisted on the implementation of the  proposals on the deployment of mechanisms for investigating incidents  in the conflict zone in order to continue the negotiations at the  highest level. Azerbaijan subsequently refused to sign the agreement.
