On October 20,  Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian stated at a joint news  conference with Foreign Minister of Poland Vitold Vashchikovsky in  Yerevan.

"I presented to the Polish colleague the joint efforts of Armenia and  the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs to promote the negotiation process for  the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on the basis  of the principles of international law: not the use of force,  territorial integrity and the people's right to self- determination.  Karabakh conflict on the basis of the principles of international  law, "Nalbandian concluded.

On October 16, Sargsyan-Aliyev met in Geneva.  The meeting was  attended by Armenian and Azeri FMs Edward Nalbandian and Elmar  Mammadyarov, Minsk mediators Igor Popov (Russia), Andrew Scheffer  (USA), Stefan Visconti (France) and Personal Representative of the  OSCE Chairman-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk. The meeting was held in a  constructive atmosphere. The presidents agreed to take additional  measures to intensify the negotiation process and reduce tensions on  the contact line. At the same time, the mediators expressed their  commitment to continue working with the parties to the Karabakh  conflict to find a peaceful way to resolve it. As a next step in this  direction, the mediator called the organization of working meetings  with the foreign ministers of the two countries.

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, in the framework of his visit to  Geneva, met with the representatives of the Armenian community of  Switzerland after a meeting with the President of Azerbaijan at the  Armenian Embassy. Sargsyan during his speech spoke about the results  of the last meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. "A few  minutes ago the meeting with the Azerbaijani President ended, there  are no concrete agreements on the options for resolving the conflict,  but agreed to take measures to reduce tension so that there are no  victims on the front line." I must say that both the Azerbaijani  President and I have a deep interest in this, God willing to always  think so, he also understands the complexity of the problem, of  course I am, but the problem is that there will never be an easy  solution, but in one more issue I want you to be sure for us there is  no solution that can to some extent undermine the security of  Karabakh.  The only solution for us is that Karabakh  will  not  be a  part of Azerbaijan.  No Armenian leader can ever make such a decision  and implent it, therefore we will do everything while developing  Armenia, economically strengthening our country, "Sargsyan concluded.

This statement of Sargsyan caused an ambiguous reaction in Baku,  high-ranking Azerbaijani officials accused Sargsyan of violating  joint agreements on non-disclosure of the contents of the talks.
