Nikol Pashinyan believes that Russia continues to maintain neutrality  in connection with the situation in Armenia

The leader of the opposition movement, MP from the Yelk bloc, Nikol Pashinyan, believes that Russia continues to remain neutral in connection with the  situation in Armenia and it would be a mistake misinterpret Putin's telephone conversation with Karapetyan in the context of Moscow's direct interference in the internal political processes in Armenia. "This is an incorrect interpretation, because Russia, like other countries, does not interfere in the internal affairs of Armenia,"  Nikol Pashinyan said on the eve.

Referring to the statement in the message that the settlement of the  crisis situation in Armenia should take place "on the basis of the  results of legitimate parliamentary elections," Pashinyan said: "It's  a misunderstanding to consider the parliament formed on pre-election  bribes as  legitimate," he said. On the eve,  the Government press  service spread a message  staing that the acting Prime Minister of  Armenia Karen Karapetyan had a telephone conversation with the  President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.  "The sides  touched upon the internal political situation in Armenia and stressed  that the settlement of the crisis situation in Armenia should take  place exclusively in the legal field, within the framework of the  current Constitution and on the basis of the results of the  legitimate parliamentary elections held in April 2017. In this  context, the importance of the 1 May 2018 election of the Parliament  of the Prime Minister of the Republic, "the  statement reads.

It is noteworthy that the telephone conversation took place after a  sudden visit of the acting president. the head of the Armenian  Foreign Ministry Edward Nalbandian and the acting president.  vice-premier Armen Gevorgyan to Moscow.  Nevertheless, at a briefing  on April 26 in Moscow, the director of the Department of Information  and Press of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, asked  whether the great powers could rely on the current government in  Armenia in the light of the current situation, not on the opposition,  but on the current situation, "It seems to me that such a statement  of the question as to who the great powers are betting in the current  situation is humiliating for Yerevan, Armenia and for its people."
