Pashinyan on "Sasna Tsrer":  situation :If someone expects that I  will go to open the doors of penitentiary, it is a wrong approach

Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated this before the government session  on May 17 in an interview with journalists, responding to a question  about the actions of supporters of the Sasna Tsrer group, periodically blocking the streets and arranging protest actions demanding their immediate release.

"I clearly expressed my position on the restoration of public  tolerance: in any action, the worst, when there is no wording, the  topic against whom it is done." If someone expects me to go to open  the doors of penal institutions, this is an incorrect approach.  processes, or bodies, all issues will be resolved, "Pashinyan said.

On May 15, late in the evening, in his next video message, Armenian  Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Armenia should become a  country without political prisoners, so this issue should find its  solution. Referring to the case of the Sasna Tsrer group, he stated  that all cases should be divided into two parts, those that have a  political overtones, but there are no victims in them, and those in  which there are victims. Specifically, in the case of Sasna Tsrer  Pashinyan considers it necessary to apply amnesty. At the same time,  Pashinyan stressed that public hearings should be held on this case,  he should talk with the victims' relatives.

To note, supporters of the group "Sasna Tsrer" hold Arshakunyats  avenue for the second day. Protesters demand immediate release of all  members of the group. Meanwhile, the court of general jurisdiction in  Yerevan rejected the motion for changing the measure of restraint,  presented by the lawyers of 10 members of the Sasna Tsrer group -  Pavlik Manukyan, Araik Khandoyan, Areg Kyureghyan, Varuzhan  Avetisyan, Mkhitar Avetisyan, Gagik Yeghiazaryan, Eduard Grigoryan,  Armen Bilyan, Ambat Barseghyan and Sedrak Nazaryan. Defenders  petitioned for their release on bail and a written undertaking not to  leave the place.  During the announcement of the court decision the  defendants demonstratively left the courtroom. The court decision was  received by the audience with whistles. Defendant Pavlik Manukyan  urged the public to block the street, thereby putting pressure on the  judge to make a fair verdict. The next court session is scheduled for  May 23.
