ArmInfo.In Armenia, companies engaged in subsoil use have fulfilled their obligations to solve social problems of the country's communities by only 4%. This is stated in the message of the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia, which conducted a check for the fulfillment by the companies of their contractual obligations on the social and economic development of the regions of the country.
According to the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, as a result of inspections it was found out that during 2012-2017, companies had to invest in the development of local communities in the amount of 280.5 million drams, but in fact, these volumes amounted to only 10.7 million drams or 4% of the planned. Moreover, the liabilities for 53.3 million drams by the expiry date have already expired for applying to the court. Regional structures of the prosecutor's office, in accordance with the law "On the Prosecutor's Office", warned business entities about the need to fulfill contractual obligations within a reasonable time. In addition, the Prosecutor General's Office appealed to the Ministry of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources of the Republic of Armenia with a proposal to solve the problems of the revealed violations and take steps to recover 250 million drams. Earlier, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan took the initiative to conduct inspections at mining facilities in terms of fulfilling their obligations in terms of protecting the environment and investments in the social sphere.
