Armen Sarkissiaan reiterated Armenia`s commitment to expand and  strengthen partnership with US

ArmInfo. Being on a visit to the US, Armenian President Armen Sarkissian again underlined the Republic's commitment to expanding and strengthening partnership relations with the United States.

According to the press service of the Armenian National Committee of  America (ANCA), Sargsyan spoke on the Capitol Hill during the event  dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Armenian Republic,  organized by the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun,  ANCA and the Armenian Embassy in the United States.

"The 21st century will be our century," Sarkissian said, citing the  critical role of the First Armenian Republic in preparing the proper  basis for Armenia's achievements. "The times when the world was ruled  primarily by such interests as energy, oil, natural resources are  coming to naught, a new era is coming, where the world will be  controlled by human values, brain, work, honesty and talent. And this  country [USA] is a perfect example. We are the only link between  Europe and Asia, the only bridge between Europe and Eurasia," the  Armenian President noted. At the same time, Sarkissian assured that  Armenia will show the world not only a revolution in the Armenian  style, but the ability to build a new country more powerful.

Present at the event, Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for  European and Eurasian Affairs, Jorgan Andrews highly appreciated the  peaceful people's movement of Armenia that introduced the country in  a new democratic era and promised to work with President Armen  Sarkissian and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to assist the Armenian  people in the matter the fight against corruption and the  establishment of a accountable government, the rule of law, greater  respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms, political and  economic freedom.
