EDB will grant to the Republic of Armenia a grant in the amount of 1  million US dollars from the funds of ESDF

The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), the  manager of the funds of the Eurasian Stabilization and Development  Fund (ESDF), and the Republic of Armenia signed an agreement on  granting a $ 1 million grant from the Fund to finance the project  "Improvement of prevention and control of non communicable diseases  in the primary health care sector" . The press service of the EDB  informed ArmInfo about this.

The corresponding document was signed in April this year by the  Chairman of the EDB Board A.Yu.  Belyaninov and Minister of Finance  of the Republic of Armenia  Aramyan.

The project is aimed at improving methods of prevention, early  detection and treatment of noncommunicable diseases in primary health  care facilities and will be implemented in three regions of the  Republic of Armenia with the highest poverty level: Lori, Syunik,  Tavush Marz.

Studies show that morbidity in many cases is due to the lack of a  well-defined public health infrastructure that provides control of  the factors that cause cancer, as well as the lack of basic health  care and screening services for the majority of the population. Thus,  morbidity and mortality can be significantly reduced through early  diagnosis and various preventive measures in the course of primary  care.

The project provides for: an expansion of the NCD program to prevent  breast cancer in the age group of women aged 50-69 in the regions of  Armenia; development of the institutional capacity of primary health  care in the diagnosis of breast cancer, including the acquisition of  a mobile mammography unit for screening breast cancer, its  maintenance and training of specialists; the introduction of a new  model of continuing education for primary health care providers  through the development and implementation of an Internet education  program for PMP specialists, as well as a certification program for  family medicine doctors; carrying out preventive examinations.

On August 2, at the meeting of the Government of Armenia, a draft  decree of the President of the Republic of Armenia was approved for  granting a grant of $ 1 million from the ESDF to finance the project  "Improvement of the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable  Diseases in the Primary Health Care".

The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) is an international financial  organization established by Russia and Kazakhstan in January 2006 to  promote the development of the market economy of the participating  countries, their sustainable economic growth and the expansion of  mutual trade and economic relations.  The authorized capital of the  EDB is 7 billion US dollars. The Member States of the Bank are the  Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of  Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation and the  Republic of Tajikistan.  The Eurasian Stabilization and Development  Fund (ESDF) of $ 8.513 billion was established on June 9, 2009 by the  governments of the same six countries. The objectives of the European  Council are to assist the participating countries in overcoming the  consequences of the global financial crisis, in ensuring their  economic and financial stability, and supporting the integration  processes in the region. The countries- members of the UFD granted  the EDB the functions of the Fund Manager and signed with the Bank an  Agreement on the management of the funds of the ESDF.
