Armenia was represented by its first lady Nune Sargsyan at the Astana regional conference "Women`s empowerment in Afghanistan"

Also in his welcoming address N.Nazarbayev noted that with the active support of the entire international community, as a member of the UN Security Council, Kazakhstan pays special attention to ensuring security in Central Asia and Afghanistan. In this process, the empowerment of women in Afghanistan is of paramount importance.  According to the Head of State, the potential of international venues such as the Astana conference allows to unite the efforts of the entire international community and, taking into account a wide range of opinions, discuss the most significant issues of current and future work.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Kairat Abdrakhmanov in his speech stressed Kazakhstan's readiness to continue all-round assistance to the peace process and the restoration of Afghanistan.  "As a member of the UN Security Council, Kazakhstan for the first time in the history of the United Nations represents not only Central Asia, but also Afghanistan, promoting the interests of this country among its priorities," said the head of the Kazakh foreign ministry.

Tavakul Karman, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva, Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Altynay Omurbekova, Minister for Women of Afghanistan Delbar Nazari, Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Central Asia, head of the Regional Center for Preventive diplomacy in Central Asia Natalia Herman, as well as a video message from US presidential adviser Ivanka Trump.  The event was attended by high-level delegations from Russia, the European Union, India, China, the United States, Afghanistan and the UN, as well as the countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus. Armenia was represented at the event by the wife of President Armen Sargsyan - Nune Sargsyan.
