In the matter of ensuring the purity of Yerevan, the authorities  resorted to the help of the communities

ArmInfo. Tomorrow 5 garbage trucks will be delivered to Armenia on the order of Sanitek, which are now on the Georgian-Armenian border. Suren Papikyan, Minister of  Territorial Administration and Development of the Republic of  Armenia, told journalists during a press conference on September 19. 

He noted that the problem with garbage collection will be solved.  At  the same time, the minister stressed that due to the lack of  confidence in the company, which repeatedly violated the promises  made to the government and the mayor's office, it was decided to  enlist the support of the communities, driving the appropriate  equipment to Yerevan, so that the capital was clean to the forum of  Francophonie and the 2800th anniversary of Yerevan.

During the press conference S.Papikyan also touched upon the problems  associated with the situation at the Nubarashen waste disposal plant.  According to the minister, the further work of the landfill is  inexpedient from the ecological point of view. In this regard, he  stressed that there is a threat of landslides and contamination of  harmful substances in sewage. "We repeatedly held discussions with  experts, as a result of which I came to the conclusion that it is  better to transfer the landfill to the territory adjacent to the city  of Jervaz or the administrative district of Ajapnyak, whose  geographic location will not allow the winds to spread the stench,"  he said.

Today, according to the Minister, the authorities should solve the  following related problems: construction of a waste disposal facility  in accordance with international standards, sorting of garbage and  creation of garbage processing enterprises. In this vein, he did not  rule out that there is a group of people in Armenia that prevent the  launch of such a production, since this could directly damage the  sources of their income, which they receive from the sale of  industrial waste collected at the Nubarashen dump.

Recall that the company "Sanitek Armenia", engaged in the collection  of garbage in a monopoly mode, is a branch of the international  company "Sanitek International Group", founded in 2010 in Beirut. In  the Armenian capital, it began operating in December 2014. For the  first time in its history, the company was fined twice for failing to  fulfill its obligations in 2018 properly.
