Robert Kocharyan filed suit against Nikol Pashinyan: he demands  public apologies from PM

ArmInfo.Second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, who is accused of overthrowing the constitutional order in 2008, filed a lawsuit against Prime Minister  Nikol Pashinyan, accusing him of public slander. The Court of General  Jurisdiction in Yerevan received the lawsuit on September 17.

As reported on the official website of the judicial information  system, Robert Kocharyan filed a lawsuit against Nikol Pashinyan  demanding protection of his honor and dignity from public slander.  The information does not indicate which statements made by Pashinyan  Kocharyan means.

Meanwhile, one of Robert Kocharyan's lawyers, Hayk Alumyan, told  ArmInfo correspondent that the complaint was based on Nikol  Pashinyan's public statements made during his visit to France  concerning Robert Kocharyan. During the meeting with the Armenian  community of Paris, Pashinyan provided explanations regarding  Kocharyan in connection with the wiretapping of the telephone  conversation between the heads of the National Security Service and  the Armenian SIS. The defense of the second president, in particular,  considers the following excerpt from the conversation of the Armenian  prime minister as slander: ''Concerning the reason to release Robert  Kocharyan, immunity." What does it mean to have immunity; can one  kill people and be inviolable? "

That is, as the lawyer said, the prime minister states that Robert  Kocharyan is the organizer of the murders and now refers to the  inviolability, while this charge was not brought against the second  president. "There is no such court decision, which entered into legal  force, and according to which Kocharyan was found guilty of  committing this crime," Alumyan stressed.

Consequently, as explained by Hayk Alumyan, Robert Kocharyan's  lawyers insist on public apologies for the statements of Nikol  Pashinyan. There are no claims for compensation, the representative  of the second president noted.

It is noteworthy that on September 22 the son of the second president  of Armenia Robert Kocharyan - Sedrak Kocharyan, filed a lawsuit  against the director of the National Security Service, the president  of the Football Federation Artur Vanetsyan. As reported by the  judicial information system, the plaintiff demanded to pay  compensation for libel and publicly refute the statement. At the same  time, it does not indicate which statement is meant. Meanwhile, on  September 11, Vanetsyan stated during a press conference that a new  criminal case was initiated against Robert Kocharyan on the fact of  the Kocharyan family's acquisition of the Congress Hotel for a bribe  of $ 6 million. He also said that the criminal case was instituted on  the fact of laundering money. Nevertheless, the other day, the head  of the National Security Service clarified a number of his earlier  statements about Kocharyan, introducing them as "a consequence of a  quick manner of speech." "I want to make only one amendment: during  the press conference, I announced a bribe of 6 million. Do you  remember?" It was "the result of a quick manner of speech." The  matter concerns not a bribe, but funds acquired illegally, "Vanetsian  said.
