MP:Armenian law enforcement authorities should take all measures to  prevent an increase in crime after the amnesty

ArmInfo.In all countries of the world after the amnesty, an increase in crime is observed, and the law enforcement bodies of Armenia should have this circumstance  in mind.

On December 31 at the discussions in the National Assembly  of Armenia on the draft law "On declaring an amnesty in criminal  matters in connection with the 2800th anniversary of  Erebuni-Yerevan's founding and the 100th anniversary of the  independence of the First Republic of Armenia" was declared by the  chairman of the standing parliamentary commission on state and legal  issues protection of human rights Gevorg Kostanyan.

According to him, the presented bill is very good in content, it is  even better than similar European laws. But taking into account the  existing international experience, law enforcement agencies of the  country should take all preventive measures to prevent the growth of  crime. In addition, the deputy continued, in conducting an amnesty it  is also important to take into account the requirements of the  European Convention on Human Rights, which contains provisions  regarding the refusal of an amnesty for each individual.

In turn, MP of the ''Tsarukyan'' bloc Sergey Bagratyan pointed out  the importance of applying the provisions of the presented document  to those who were politically harassed by the former regime.   According to him, in total there are about 15 people who supported  the opposition and were subjected to political persecution by the  former authorities of the country. Among them, Bagratyan named Arsen  Avetisyan. "Humanism will save the country," the Mp stated, calling  for a solution to the issue with people who consider themselves  political prisoners. 

To note on October 31 began the parliament of Armenia at an  extraordinary meeting discussions on the draft law "On declaring an  amnesty in criminal cases in connection with the 2800th anniversary  of the founding of Erebuni-Yerevan and the 100th anniversary of the  independence of the First Republic of Armenia".  It is planned that  of the 2,888 prisoners, 270 are will be release.
