Arman Tatoyan: Karen Ghazaryan suffers from serious mental problems  and cannot be a saboteur

ArmInfo. We keep in touch with the parents of Karen Ghazaryan, a resident of the village of Berdavan, Tavush region, who has fallen into Azerbaijani captivity.  They are very concerned about the situation, and we are trying to  help them as much as possible.

The Defender of Human Rights of Armenia Arman Tatoyan stated this on November 16 at a press conference.  He noted that Ghazaryan had serious health problems,  including serious mental problems; therefore, he could in no way be a  saboteur. "Karen Ghazaryan did not serve in the army, as he has  mental problems. I believe that the issue of his return should be  resolved soon. We are following development'', Tatoyan said.

To note, on June 15, Azerbaijani media reported that an attempt to  penetrate a "sabotage group from the Armenian side was suppressed in  Gazakh region, and one of the members of the group named Karen  Ghazaryan (b. 1984) was taken prisoner". Meanwhile, the press  secretary of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia Artsrun Hovhannisyan,  responding to this information, said that a resident of the village  of Berdavan of the Tavush region Karen Ghazaryan (b. 1984) does not  serve and has never served in the Armenian armed forces. 

In turn, the Police of Armenia also called the message of the  Azerbaijani side disinformation. "Karen Ghazaryan is a resident of  the border village of Berdavan, Tavush region of Armenia, and has no  relation to military service. He has health problems, and since 2013  he has been registered with the relevant medical institution.  Currently, the circumstances of how Karen Ghazaryan was clarified in  Azerbaijan, "wrote the former head of the Armenian Police press  service, Ashot Aharonyan, on his Facebook page. It also became known  that the Minister of Defense of Armenia David Tonoyan, being the head  of the interdepartmental Commission on the affairs of prisoners,  hostages and missing persons, appealed to the Yerevan office of the  International Committee of the Red Cross to organize the return of RA  citizen Karen Ghazaryan. Recall that on November 13, Foreign Ministry  spokeswoman Anna Naghdalyan stated that the issue of the return of  Ghazaryan is on the agenda of Yereavn.
