Pashinyan: For five years, Armenia should spend $ 2.5 billion to  modernize Armed Forces

Events occurred in our country that can be conditionally divided into two parts: crimes, as a result of which blood was shed and and non-blood crimes.  This  was announced at a meeting with the residents of Ijevan by Acting  Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, who heads the "My Step"  bloc in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

"The crime of bloodshed can never be forgiven. And if money is  stolen, it can be returned, if necessary, with interest. We must come  up with a mechanism that will make it possible to return the stolen  money to the budget as soon as possible and send it, first of all, to  strengthen our Armed Forces. I set a very ambitious task for our  cabinet: in 5 years we should be able to spend at least $ 2.5 billion  on the development of our Armed Forces. We will receive a part of  these funds at the expense of just this looted money. When we talk  about the fight against corruption, we do not mean only those who  were in power before, but current officials as well. The people  should have clear mechanisms for checking officials for corruption",  Pashinyan declared.

According to him, if now someone says that he will give 50 million  dollars, if only he is allowed to live in peace, then this is one  condition: what part of the loot is 50 million dollars, how many  percent. In his opinion, they should join the discussion only if it  is a question of returning at least 98% of the stolen funds.

"Let's imagine, I will decide to start a business now. Isn't it  obvious that my business will flourish? I'm talking about the head of  state who is in business, while there are no others in business. The  head of Armenia should not be engaged in business, the people of  Armenia should be in business. Our main task should be the use of  transitional justice tools. The goal of this justice system should be  not to fill the prisons with people, but to return the loot to the  budget, "Pashinyan stressed.
