View from Baku: Pashinyan`s statement is an argument in favor of  Azerbaijan`s preparation for war

ArmInfo.The statements made by the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan on August 5 in Nagorno-Karabakh, are nothing more than another argument in favor of  preparing Azerbaijan for a military resolution of the Karabakh  conflict, head of the Club of Political Scientists "South Caucasus",  (Baku), international expert Ilgar Velizade expressed a similar  opinion to ArmInfo.

At a rally held on Renaissance Square in Stepanakert on August 5,  Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan described Artsakh as an  integral part of Armenia. "Artsakh is part of Armenia and that's  final," the prime minister quoted the words of the Armenian statesman  and military leader Leonid Azgaldyan.

"In these words, the Prime Minister of Armenia not only actually  recognizes the fact of the annexation of our territories, but also  expresses the intention to unite them with Armenia. In my opinion,  such statements, no matter for what reason they are made, will  minimize the chances of a successful continuation and especially the  completion of negotiations on the settlement of the conflict.  Moreover, the question arises of the reasonability of Azerbaijan's  participation in such a deliberately fruitless process, "he said.

According to Velizade, Baku should respond to the Pashinyan's  Karabakh statements in accordance with its own interests. In  particular, presenting them to the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group.  According to him, it is necessary to bring to the attention of the  co-chairs the possibility of losing further negotiations, in fact, of  their further meaning and, accordingly, prospects.  Since 1992, the  OSCE Minsk Group, represented by the co-chairs from Russia, the USA  and France, has been engaged in the settlement of the Karabakh  conflict. Currently, the settlement process is nominally taking place  on the basis of the Madrid Principles put forward by the OSCE Minsk  Group co-chairs in 2007 and updated in 2009.
