Pashinyan thanked Kazakhstan for a balanced position on Karabakh  conflict

ArmInfo. Today's meeting is a good opportunity to discuss the bilateral relations agenda. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated this at a meeting with  Kassym-Jomart  Tokayev, who arrived in Yerevan to attend a meeting of  the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.

As the press service of the government told ArmInfo, Pashinyan  emphasized that the Armenian government is interested in developing  trade and economic contacts with Kazakhstan. "I am glad that  cooperation in this direction has expanded in the recent period, but  serious potential remains for the realization of which it is  necessary to take consistent steps," Pashinyan said, adding that the  EAEU also opens up serious opportunities in this direction that must  be used.

In turn, the head of Kazakhstan noted that he sees a great interest  in life in the eyes of the Armenian people.  "I am glad that Yerevan  continues to develop, it is one of the most beautiful cities that I  have seen. The Kazakh people have warm feelings for the Armenian  people, and Kazakhstan is interested in developing relations with  Armenia in various fields," Tokayev said, while pointing out the  importance of implementation steps to increase the volume of trade  between the two countries, and in this context, agreed with Pashinyan  that it is necessary to intensify the activities of the  Armenian-Kazakh intergovernmental commission.

The parties discussed issues related to the opportunities and  progress of the implementation of bilateral joint investment projects  in the field of energy, agriculture and digital technologies, touched  on resolving logistics issues and ways to overcome them in terms of  increasing mutual export and import volumes.

The interlocutors also emphasized the importance of cooperation  within the framework of international organizations, including the  EAEU, CSTO, UN and other platforms.

The parties also touched on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh  conflict. Pashinyan thanked Kazakhstan for its balanced position on  the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. At the end of the meeting, Pashinyan  invited Kassym-Jomart  Tokayev to Armenia on an official visit. The  invitation was accepted.  It should be noted that, in 2018, the trade  turnover between Armenia and Kazakhstan amounted to only 13.5 million  US dollars, of which the export of Armenian goods and services  amounted to 9.8 million dollars. At the same time, the annualized  turnover increased by 50%.
