Manvel Sargsyan: If Facebook is banned for a month, the former  authorities will be forgotten right away

ArmInfo.The active use by the "former authorities" of their media in agitation against the current authorities practically does not contribute to their popularity. A  similar opinion was expressed to ArmInfo by Director of the Armenian  Center for National Strategic Studies Manvel Sargsyan.

According to the analyst, the main point and message sent by the  environment of Serzh Sargsyan and Robert Kocharyan is a fear, a fear  of competitors appearing on the political field. Sargsyan sees the  latter in the image of young, capable politicians with a spotless  reputation, able to compete with the current authorities, not to  mention the former outsiders. The analyst is convinced that the  emergence of such forces will be the last nail in the coffin of the  former government.

"The reason for this state of affairs is the complete absence in the  camp of representatives of the former government of original, new  ideas, the meaning of the struggle that they are waging against the  My Step bloc and personally Nikol Pashinyan. They are not able to  offer society anything in this sense. That is why figuratively  speaking, if you ban Facebook for a month, literally everyone will  immediately forget the "formers", "he stressed.

Commenting on the recent statements by Republicans and supporters of  Robert Kocharyan about the need for early elections, the analyst  described them as relevant to the current situation and not  reflecting existing realities. According to him, voicing such calls  by the "formers" is prompted by their own lack of demand in current  political processes.

According to Sargsyan's observations, the "formers" are trying in  vain to fill the vacuum that has formed in the political field. The  latter is due to the lack of, temporary, new, normal political forces  with which the authorities could conduct a meaningful dialogue.  According to his forecasts, with the advent of such forces, the empty  noise prompted by relics of the former government will immediately  subside.

"All of these relics are doing one thing today - trying to replace  substantive discussions in society with speculation, lies,  accusations of power, panic.
