It should be noted that on the evening of April 23, events commemorating the 105th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide of 1915 will start with this action. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, a number of events timed to this date have been canceled this year. In particular, the famous torchlight procession was canceled, moreover, citizens were deprived of the opportunity to lay flowers at the Armenian Genocide memorial. Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan said that the government on behalf of all citizens will lay at the memorial 105,000 flowers.
This year the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, Armenian President Armen Sarkissian, Parliament Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan and Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II will visit the memorial. However, citizens can follow the video broadcast and send SMS to the short number "1915" from Armenia, and to the number 00374331919500 - from abroad, indicating their name, thereby becoming involved in the events of this day. SMS will be projected onto the columns of the complex.
