Politician: The thesis that "no one needs Armenia" is a complete lie

ArmInfo. The thesis that "no one needs Armenia" promoted in our country by internal and external forces for decades, is a complete lie. The Chairman of the  Constructive Party of Armenia, political scientist Andrias Ghukasyan,  expressed a similar opinion to ArmInfo.

"This is evidenced by the positions of the two co-chairing countries  of the OSCE Minsk Group: France and the United States regarding the  continuation of the settlement process exclusively within its  framework. We know about France's position from the day the French  Senate adopted a corresponding resolution on the need to recognize  independence, restore the territorial integrity of Artsakh, security  of the international peacekeeping forces. And the ongoing restoration  of the Minsk process is a process in this direction, "he said.

Thus, France, and more recently the United States, according to the  political scientist, prevent the attempts of Baku and Moscow to push  the OSCE Minsk Group into the background, reducing its functions to  the issues of coordinating the provision of humanitarian assistance  to the region. In this light, Ghukasyan recalled that the OSCE Minsk  Group is an intermediary instance created, among other things, to  determine the status of Artsakh. And neither France nor the United  States are ready to give up their powers, their own jurisdiction in  favor of Russia. Moreover, they are not going to make any concessions  to Azerbaijan. 

In such conditions, the situation outlined above, according to  Ghukasyan, is another weighty argument in favor of the readiness of  the international community to defend the national interests of the  Armenian people. Simply because they are completely aligned with  their own interests. In this light, the same demands of the  leadership of the United States, France, other European countries and  international organizations for the liberation of Armenian citizens  from Azerbaijani captivity have not only a humanitarian but also a  political component.

According to Ghukasyan's assessments, thus, today the US and France  actually oppose to forcing Armenia to take certain steps and agreeing  to the conditions dictated to Yerevan under the threat of the use of  force.  And in the conditions of silence of the Armenian leadership,  the international community, apparently, takes on the functions of  protecting Armenian interests. According to the political scientist,  seeing perfectly well the situation in which the leadership of  Armenia found itself for one reason or another, seeing its inability  to protect the interests of its own state, the world is quite  naturally trying to pull Armenia out of this influence.

"Relevant statements from Paris, Washington, international structures  on our prisoners, the situation around Artsakh, the issue of its  status are made with this very purpose. And along the way, they  dispel the long- term myth that no one needs Armenia besides Russia,  and if we suddenly try to take a different path of development, we  will be immediately destroyed. This absolute lie was the basis for  the long-term propaganda of the criminal regime in power in Armenia,  and the same lie, by and large, continues to be served by his current  successors, "the political scientist summed up.
