ArmInfo. The possibility of launching vaccine production in Armenia and Kyrgyzstan is being considered. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this on May 21 at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (SEEC), which was held via videoconference.
" The topic of interaction in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, in overcoming its socio-economic consequences has a key, priority importance in our discussions," the head of the Russian Federation said.
Vladimir Putin stressed that Russia was able to quickly create three of its own very effective and safe vaccines against coronavirus. The fourth vaccine, "Sputnik Light", will soon be put into circulation. The relevant services are engaged in the vaccination of Russian citizens, and this work is quite active.
"The release of Sputnik V has been successfully localized, as our colleagues have already said, both in Kazakhstan and in Belarus. Russia is the only country that transfers vaccine technologies. The possibility of deploying such industries in Armenia and Kyrgyzstan is now being considered, "he said.
Given the current circumstances, as noted by Putin, it is important to pay special attention to cooperation in the field of drug safety. "By the way, we also have domestic drugs that are very effective in the fight against coronavirus," he said.
According to Putin, by the end of the year, EurAsEC experts should prepare an action plan to provide the Union countries with strategically important drugs for the treatment of not only coronavirus, but also other dangerous diseases. "In fact, we are talking about organizing the production of effective and affordable drugs in the Eurasian Economic Community in the near future, in quantities sufficient to meet the needs of our national health systems," he said.
Vladimir Putin noted the joint project to create a "Traveling without COVID-19" digital platform, implemented with the assistance of the Digital Initiatives Fund of the Eurasian Development Bank. "In my opinion, our Armenian colleagues came up with this initiative. The goal of the project is to facilitate mutual trips of citizens of our countries, to significantly accelerate the procedures for crossing state borders in compliance with sanitary standards and taking into account the current epidemiological situation," he said.
