CSTO Secretary General visited one of military units of Armenian  Armed Forces in Ararat region

On August 10, in a conversation with Armenian journalists  during a visit to one of the military units of the RA Armed Forces in  the Ararat region, CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas said,  answering the question of what proposals the Organization has  developed to resolve the situation on the border, and why the  organization does not give a clear and clear assessment of the  incidents on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

According to him, the CSTO will conduct an organized monitoring, and  first of all with the help of the state bodies of Armenia.

"Of course, we believe that the incidents on the Armenian-Azerbaijani  border that you are talking about pose a security threat to the  Caucasus region and, of course, to Armenia, a member of the CSTO. If  we talk about ways of solving the problem, we think that the  possibilities for a political solution to this situation have not  been exhausted. In fact, it would be the best option for everyone,  "said the CSTO Secretary General.

At the same time, Zas is convinced that the trilateral format  Armenia-Azerbaijan-Russia should play a positive role in this  process. "Of course, we are seriously concerned about the expansion  of the geography of border clashes and the increase in their  frequency. It is also troubling and not conducive to the work  indicated. In addition, this generally complicates the implementation  of the cornerstone agreements reached between the leaders of Armenia,  Azerbaijan and Russia to end the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and find  ways to establish peace in the region. We expect that all parties  will understand this and take steps to focus on resolving their  differences by political means," Zas concluded .

To note, the CSTO Secretary General is in Yerevan on a two-day  working visit. ThYesterdaye day before, he held meetings at the  Foreign Ministry, the Defense Ministry and the Security Council of  Armenia.  Today his meeting  the Prime Minister of Armenia is  expected. It is also worth noting that this is the first visit of the  CSTO Secretary General to Armenia after the escalation of the  situation in the Nagorno- Karabakh conflict zone.
