Tiny Kox to Azerbaijan and Armenia: You have no right to start a new  war!

We do not turn a blind eye to the problem, we decided to follow the development of the situation in the future," President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Tiny Kox  told ArmInfo, referring to the outcome of  the debates on the blockade.

According to him, in the conflict with each other, Azerbaijan and  Armenia must first of all bear obligations towards their citizens.  But, judging by what Samad Seyidov (head of the Azerbaijani  delegation to PACE - ed. note) says at the Assembly, I don't get the  impression that Baku is trying to solve the problem.

"The approach of the Armenian side is also not always clear whether  Yerevan wants to solve the problem.  I have an open proposal for both  delegations to meet and see what we can do. During the debate, many  parliamentarians called on both sides to solve the problem, and if  you need help, then we will provide it.  We do not have an army,  tanks, we are an organization that can provide you with any  assistance that we are able to provide, but the parties themselves  should show commitment to finding a solution to the problem of the  Lachin corridor," he said.

"The fact that a lot is said about the problem, but little has been  achieved, shows that two responsible governments are still not able  to solve problems that will serve to protect human rights in both  countries," Tiny Kox said.

Speaking about the possibility of a new war and the position of the  organization on this issue, Kox said:  "Let's pray that it does not  happen." He stressed that quite a lot of people have already died  since Azerbaijan and Armenia became independent and even before that.  "As one of the parliamentarians said in the debate, people have lived  together in this territory for centuries. But every time there is a  deadly conflict, the rest of Europe says: <this is happening again>.  And every time young people die, soldiers. So you don't have the  right to start a war again!

This is also against the Charter of the organization. You pledged not  to start a war and be committed to peace. The war violates the  Charter, and you need to be careful," Kox said, citing the example of  Russia, which was excluded from the organization in March 2022 due to  the war in Ukraine.

Yesterday PACE held a debate on the blockade of the Lachin corridor  by Azerbaijan, which caused a humanitarian catastrophe in the  Republic of Artsakh.
