ArmInfo. The problematic section near the village of Tegh, Syunik region, was reduced by another 1.4 km, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan assured on April 20 in an interview with journalists in parliament.
<We have a section (near the village of Tegh, ed. note) with a length of 11 km. We considered and still consider a section of 5 km to be problematic. To date, the "problem area" has been cut by another 1.4 km. This means that the boundary section on such a segment has been adjusted. This means that both we and the Azerbaijanis have a shared opinion on that point, that our border line passes through there. This also means that the Armenian and Azerbaijani border guards will be deployed at a certain distance from these points>, Pashinyan said.
As Pashinyan noted, experience shows that if border guards deal with the issue, this can lead to certain results. <We hope that the remaining 3.6 km will be adjusted a and the topic will be closed. And on the other hand, until it happens, we cannot say that it happened," the prime minister said.
On April 11, at about 4:00pm, in the territory of the Republic of Armenia, near the village of Tegh, Syunikregion, a group of servicemen of the armed forces of Azerbaijan, under the pretext of clarifying the border points, approached the servicemen of the RA armed forces, provoked and opened fire with firearms and other weapons of different calibers in the direction of the positions of the Armenian servicemen and the armed forces.
Four soldiers were killed and six wounded on the Armenian side. On April 13, at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, Pashinyan stated that, despite the efforts of the Armenian side, unfortunately, it was not possible to deploy border troops on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border near the village of Tegh in the Syunik region of the Republic of Armenia without aggravations.
