ArmInfo.A rather strange situation has developed round the attempted kidnapping of Ashot Pashinyan, son of Armenia's Premier Nikol Pashinyan, human rights activist Ruben Melikyan told reporters.
One person has been detained.
"Yes, Gayane Hakobyan, mother of a killed soldier, has been detained. At least another two men, Vahik Sahakyan and Vahan Movsisyan, whose sons were killed in action, were detained in a very rude manner before our eyes. I talked to them recently and none of them was given a release paper. Mat be, only one detainee has remained, but there were at least three from the very beginning," Mr Melikyan said.
At present, Gayane Hakobyan is being interrogated. Mr Melikyan said that the case is a high-profile one. Only one woman-driver was in the car Ashot Pashinyan was allegedly kidnapped in.
"How can a bereaved mother kidnap a 23-year-old participant in the Artsakh war? It is absurd. Even the plaintiff's representatives do not insist that Ashot Pashinyan got into the car against his will. So at what moment was he kidnapped? It is not normal. We do not think any kidnapping can be talked about at all," Mr Melikyan said.
A few hours ago, the killed soldiers' fathers were released. One of them, Garik Galeyan, told reporters that no one had kidnapped Ashot Pashinyan - he had willingly got into Ms Hakobyan's car.
"Armenia's authorities are viewing the 'Sons' call' organization as a threat and seeking to neutralize it," Mr Galeyan said. He said that he was the one driving the car that, as the Investigative Committee claims, allegedly hit Ashot Pashinyan. "Nothing like that ever happened. I never harmed him [Ashot Pashinyan]," Mr Galeyan said.
Later, during an interrogation, Ms Gayane felt bad and was taken to hospital.
