ArmInfo. Armenia's Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan has resigned. He reported his resignation on his Facebook account.
"It so happens that I will no longer serve you as Minister of Economy. During these 3+ years, I have worked with unwavering devotion and love for every citizen of Armenia. I worked at least six days a week, on average from 8 am to 9 pm, while over the course of three years I used a total of 15-16 days of vacation," he noted, emphasizing that he was decisive and honest in his work and devoted to the homeland.
Reporting on the years of work, the now former Minister of Economy recalled that compared to 2020, Armenia's GDP in 2023 increased by approximately 100% in dollar terms and by approximately 50% in drams. Budget programs of the Ministry of Economy increased from 12.5 billion drams in 2019 to 91 billion drams for 2024. Labor productivity, investment volume, and foreign trade turnover have increased sharply. Kerobyan also drew attention to the fact that during this period Armenia rose from 112th place to 86th in terms of GDP per capita, for the first time overtaking Azerbaijan, Belarus and many other countries in this indicator.
He also said that when he took office as minister on November 20, 2020, he did not rule out that he would remain there for several days or months, since the likelihood of a change of power was very high. Vahan Kerobyan admitted that during this period, due to many disagreements, he wanted to leave the post of Minister of Economy many times, but sacrificed personal interests for the sake of state ones.
At the end of his address, the former Minister of Economy thanked the Prime Minister of Armenia for the opportunity to serve his country.
Earlier, after a scandal in the Ministry of Economy, associated, according to the Investigative Committee, with corruption schemes, Vahan Kerobyan said that he was ready to bear responsibility.
