Incumbent premier`s remaining in power poses greater risks of  territorial surrenders to Azerbaijan - opposition MP

ArmInfo.Today it is already obvious that Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan is not going to resign, which  significantly increases the risks of another surrender of territories to Azerbaijan under false formulations, opposition MP Anna Mkrtchyan stated at a briefing on March 21. 

According to her, citizens of Armenia are now left to guess whether  the surrender of territories will be determined by kilometers or tens  of kilometers, presenting to the public another model with a reduced  scale. Representatives of the faction in their statements pointed out  the dangerous nature of the development of the situation, which is  confirmed almost on a daily basis. "This already resembles a tragedy  when the leadership responsible for the state security system, in the  period after active hostilities, responds to requests about how you  are doing and responds that everything is fine. We can only hope that  in this mess, the republic will continue to resist such phenomena,"  the parliamentarian noted, recalling the security system built over  30 years, which Nikol Pashinyan has been destroying and destroying  over the six years of his rule, but has not yet been able to  completely destroy.

Mkrtchyan also drew attention to the developments in the internal  political life of the country, in which forceful pressure on  undesirable persons continues. There are several dozen political  prisoners in Armenia facing criminal cases aimed at silencing the  opposition. "I would like to express words of support to all  political prisoners, including the vice-chairman of the Republican  Party Armen Ashotyan, Narek Malyan, Mamikon Aslanyan and others.  International structures are already talking about the presence of  political prisoners in the country, several of whose reports indicate  that This form of suppression of punishment, such as arrests, is used  as a mechanism and form of punishment, rather than criminal  procedural actions.  The courts in Armenia are actually subordinate  to investigative structures," the deputy said, also adding that  according to the same reports, there is practically no independence  in the country judicial system, and there is no division of power  between the judicial and executive powers.

As an example of what was said, Mkrtchyan cited the court hearings at  which the case against Armen Ashotyan was considered. <Each time the  courts began with the words that there was a crime related to the  property of the Yerevan State Medical University. At meetings, the defense side  constantly raises the question of what kind of damage we are talking  about and who the victim is. There have been no answers to these  questions in 10 months of trials," stressed Anna Mkrtchyan.
