Polish president arriving in Armenia for official visit 

ArmInfo. Polish President Andrzej Duda and his wife Agata Kornhauser-Duda will arrive in  Armenia today on an official visit.

According to the press service of the Polish president, Duda is  scheduled to meet with Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan and  Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Yerevan.

"One of the topics of the talks will be the situation in the region  and the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan," said Mieszko  Pawlak, head of the International Policy Bureau.

According to him, less than two weeks ago, Andrzej Duda met and spoke  with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, where he raised this issue.

"Now he will have the opportunity to talk to the Armenian  authorities. The completion of the peace process is the most pressing  issue. This finale seems to be close, and it is extremely important  for the stability of the region to achieve it, and negotiations on  this topic will be very important," Pawlak emphasized.

He added that during Duda's visit to Armenia, "the aggressive,  neo-imperial policy of the Russian Federation - both in our part of  the world and in the South Caucasus" will also be discussed.

"This will be an important topic of the talks and, of course, the war  in Ukraine and how Russia is trying to gain control over the entire  post-Soviet territory in a neo-colonialist way, which, of course,  also affects Armenia," the head of the BPM noted. 

He said that the sanctions policy towards Russia will also be  discussed. Pawlak informed that the topics of the talks will also be  bilateral relations between Poland and Armenia, including economic  relations, as well as relations between Armenia and the EU. 

"In recent years, we have seen a certain turn towards the West,  towards the EU in the policy of the Armenian government. Poland,  since it will soon preside over the EU Council, is also interested in  this issue," Mieszko Pawlak said. The website of the President of  Poland also reports that today the presidential couple will meet with  representatives of the Polish community in the country.

"Tomorrow morning, Andrzej Duda will visit the Armenian Genocide  Memorial Complex. Then he will meet with Armenian President Vahagn  Khachaturyan, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and Speaker of the  National Assembly Alen Simonyan.

On Tuesday, the President will also visit the Armenian Stock Exchange  AMX, in which the Polish Stock Exchange owns a controlling stake. The  agreement on the purchase of this stake by the Polish Stock Exchange  was signed two years ago in Davos in the presence of the Presidents  of Poland and Armenia.

On Wednesday, Andrzej Duda will visit the headquarters of the EU  Mission to Armenia (EUMA), created within the framework of the Common  Security and Defense Policy. The mission was created, among other  things, to monitor the situation and patrol the border between  Armenia and Azerbaijan.

As Pawlak said, "EUMA has nine Poles, including the Deputy Head of  the Mission. "The mission is an important EU tool that helps  stabilize the situation there," he added. Duda will also take part in  patrols in Yeraskh (PPA).
