This visit to Azerbaijan aims to strengthen relations between the two countries, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said at a briefing following talks with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev in Baku. Speaking about the signing of agreements agreed upon at the previous meeting of experts, Pezeshkian described this as the beginning of a movement towards further steps in bilateral relations.
"I hope that our presence here, as well as the agreements that will be signed after preliminary discussions between our experts, will mark the beginning of a new stage in relations between our countries," Pezeshkian said, Mehr Iranian media reports. "Karabakh is an inseparable part of the territory of Azerbaijan, and we respect this. Our presence in Azerbaijan will strengthen relations between the two countries," he added.
In turn, Aliyev assured that Baku attaches special importance to the development of relations between Iran and Azerbaijan. "Of course, the development of these relations aligns with the interests of the two fraternal peoples. I hope that thanks to the special instructions and recommendations of the two presidents, our relations will receive a new impetus," Aliyev noted. We will add that following the talks between Pezeshkian and Aliyev in Baku, seven documents were signed between the parties.
