
ArmInfo.The house of the famous Armenian writer Hrant Matevosyan, located in the village of Ahnidzor in the Lori region and built in the late 19th - early 20th centuries, has received the status of a monument of local significance.
As ArmInfo was informed by the press service of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (MECS) of Armenia, this decision was made at the third meeting of the expert commission of the Ministry. During the discussion, the issue of assigning the status of an immovable historical and cultural monument to seven historical and cultural sites located in the Ararat and Lori regions was also considered.
In particular, within the framework of the meeting, three fortresses from the village of Ararat, dating back to the period from the 5th century BC to the Middle Ages, were recognized as monuments of national significance. In addition, the rural area of the village of Dashtakar, dating back to the Middle Ages, as well as two areas in Urtsadzor received the status of monuments of local significance.
According to the source, the meeting also discussed an investment program for the creation of a multifunctional tourist complex on the territory of the Tgit fortress.
Hrant Matevosyan was born in 1935 in the small village of Ahnidzor. He completed his school education and received higher education in Yerevan. In 1967, his first collection of short stories and novellas entitled "August" was published. In this collection, as in his subsequent works, the author explores the main theme of his work - the modern Armenian village. In the last years of his life, he served as chairman of the Board of the Writers' Union of Armenia. His literary works have been translated into many languages, covering not only neighboring countries, but also more remote regions.
Hrant Matevosyan also left a significant mark on the art of cinema: such films as "We and Our Mountains", "Autumn Sun", "The Master" and "This Green, Red World" were shot based on his scripts. The film "August" was also released based on his works, and television plays were created based on the play "Neutral Zone" and the essay "Metsamor". The plays "Autumn Sun" and "At the Station" were staged at the Yerevan Drama Theatre.
