ArmInfo. On June 6, a group of pro-Westerners once again organized a picket near the building of the Armenian parliament in connection with the expected visit of the Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia Valentina Matviyenko, who arrived in Yerevan today on an official visit.
During the protest, former member of the National Assembly of Armenia, leader of the party "In the Name of the Republic" Arman Babajanyan, known for his Russophobic position, chanted slogans "Russia - get out of Armenia". He emphasized that the purpose of the picket was to demonstrate that Armenia no longer considers Russia as its ally, since it is waging a hybrid war against Armenia.
In turn, the leader of the "European Party of Armenia" Tigran Khzmalyan added that the picket was organized not only to express dissatisfaction with the arrival of Matviyenko, but also to call on the government and the National Assembly of Armenia to decide on the policy they are pursuing. He recalled that the parliament adopted the law on joining the European Union 64 days ago, but not a single application has been submitted so far. Khzmalyan stressed that an attempt to "sit on two chairs" is impossible, since neither Russia nor Europe accepts it.
It is noteworthy that during the picket, a group of citizens supporting integration with Russia and advocating for the union of Armenia with Russia arrived at the Armenian parliament.
A clash broke out between the protesters, they began to insult each other, and the police intervened to prevent the clash. The group of pro-Russian citizens expressed the belief that "if Armenia, as an ally, had acted correctly, the actions of the Russian authorities would have been different."
On May 21, the same group of Russophobic politicians organized a similar picket in front of the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, where a meeting of the heads of the foreign policy departments of Armenia and Russia, Ararat Mirzoyan and Sergey Lavrov, was taking place at that time.
