Canadian MP expresses concern over arrests in Armenia

ArmInfo. The situation unfolding in Armenia, including the detention of Archbishops Bagrat Srbazan and Mikael Ajapahian, and the rise of hate speech  against of the Mother See of Etchmiadzin, raises serious concern. Robert Oliphant, Canadian MP and Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, noted in a post on his Facebook page.

In this regard, he noted that at a time of growing instability in that region, Armenia's democratic progress is more important than ever for its people and for the broader region. "Canada values its partnership with Armenia, a relationship rooted in a shared belief in democratic governance, human rights, and the impartial application of the rule of law. We remain confident that the Armenian authorities will act in a manner that safeguards these principles," Oliphant wrote.
