"Tomorrow, August 11, a telephone conversation will take place between President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan,," Advisor and Press Secretary of the President of Kazakhstan Ruslan Zheldibay wrote on his Telegram channel.
He said that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev considers the peace agreement signed in Washington between Azerbaijan and Armenia a historically important achievement.
"The document put an end to the long-term military conflict between the two states and paved the way for the establishment of diplomatic relations and the development of cooperation between them based on lasting peace.
According to the Head of State, the signing of a unique agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia became possible thanks to the energetic and effective mediation mission of US President Donald Trump, who managed to convince the Azerbaijani and Armenian leaders to fully demonstrate political will and strategic foresight.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev notes that Kazakhstan has also made its contribution to achieving such important agreements between Azerbaijan and Armenia by proposing Almaty as a venue for negotiations at the level of foreign ministers on key parameters of the peace treaty," Ruslan Zheldibay noted.
On August 10, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a telephone conversation with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
The President of Kazakhstan warmly congratulated Ilham Aliyev on the signing of the historic Declaration on the peaceful settlement of the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington with the active and effective assistance of US President Donald Trump.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that this document was signed in accordance with the principles of international law and UN resolutions, therefore, it fully complies with the strategic interests of Azerbaijan and Armenia, and will also contribute to the development of broad international cooperation in the Caucasus. Kazakhstan, as a strategic partner of Azerbaijan, sincerely welcomes the establishment of long- awaited peace in the region, - Akorda reports.
