
ArmInfo. Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan discussed the main areas of Armenian-Japanese cooperation during a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba in Tokyo.
As reported by the press service of the Armenian Cabinet of Ministers, Shigeru Ishiba welcomed Nikol Pashinyan's visit to Japan, emphasizing that this is a good opportunity for the consistent development of Armenian-Japanese relations and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation. He noted that Japan attaches great importance to strengthening friendly ties with Armenia and implementing joint initiatives in various fields. At the same time, Shigeru Ishiba welcomed the establishment of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, expressing hope for ensuring long-term and stable peace in the region.
Prime Minister Pashinyan expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality, emphasizing Armenia's readiness to give new impetus to Armenian-Japanese cooperation. Pashinyan noted that Armenia attaches great importance to expanding cooperation with Japan, including in the economic sphere. He stressed that a bilateral business forum is planned to be held in the near future, which will make a real contribution to the expansion of trade and economic ties. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that as a result, Japanese business investments in Armenia will increase significantly.
The head of the Armenian Cabinet also emphasized the importance of cooperation between Armenia and Japan in the field of disaster prevention, human resource development, infrastructure, promotion of small and medium-sized businesses and other areas, which has been established in recent years. The Prime Minister highly appreciated Japan's participation in the Armenian-Japanese economy over these years, including through development and technical assistance programs.
Nikol Pashinyan congratulated his colleague on the successful holding of the World Expo 2025. The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude for Japan's support for Armenia's participation in the exhibition.
The parties noted that this platform is a unique opportunity for the development of Armenian-Japanese cooperation. During the meeting, the main areas of Armenian-Japanese cooperation were discussed: expansion of economic ties and investment cooperation, deepening ties in the fields of education, science and culture, as well as tourism.
An exchange of ideas took place on further steps to ensure regional peace and stability.
