Washington declaration identical to trilateral statement of Nov 9,  2020

ArmInfo.  After the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, under the auspices of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the second significant international statement for the country is being signed, and in both cases the country faces the same consequences. This opinion was expressed by the head of the With Honor faction Hayk Mamijanyan in an interview with journalists, referring to the Washington agreement signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia with the mediation of the United States on August 8. 

In this vein, the oppositionist was outraged by the fact that both  sides, after 25 days, suddenly realized that they perceive the same  provisions of the document they signed in Washington differently.  Mamijanyan believes that this is evidence that the Armenian  authorities, who once again signed a document with the content of  which they were not familiar. He is sure that all this is being done  for only one purpose - to ensure the reproduction of their own power,  and not in the interests of the country. The head of the opposition  faction believes that the consequences of transferring control over  the road to the United States will become visible much later.  According to him, of course, Armenia may receive certain benefits at  first, but they will be unjustified. In this vein, he compared the  transfer of the road under American control to renting out a room.  "One day, any owner wants to know what is happening in it, and it may  turn out that illegal activities have been carried out in it all this  time. This is what it really is, to put it simply. Our country is  dealing with a document that clearly and point by point presents the  conditions for using the territory of Armenia, while as for  Azerbaijan, it is only noted that all this should be carried out on  the principle of reciprocity," the oppositionist noted. 

Mamijanyan also drew attention to the fact that the word "corridor"  in the document could have been replaced by many synonyms, which was  not done, according to him, for a reason. "In the future, this will  allow Turkey to voice new demands. Any lawyer will tell you that such  agreements, which describe the obligations of only one of the  parties, simply cannot exist," the head of the faction is confident.

The oppositionist noted in this vein that to this day, the Prime  Minister of Armenia has not been able to adequately explain how  exactly the principle of reciprocity will be implemented and how the  movement of Azerbaijanis on the territory of Armenia will be  controlled. He drew attention to the fact that while the Azerbaijani  side clearly states that their border guards will not intersect with  Armenians, the Prime Minister of Armenia only promises that  everything will be controlled by some monitors, thus continuing to  manipulate society.

He expressed conviction that all these processes are nothing more  than another attempt to deceive the Armenian public for political  purposes. Mamijanyan is confident that the promised requirement for  reciprocity in the implementation of road control and border crossing  mechanisms will not be ensured.

Recall that on August 8, a trilateral meeting of the leaders of the  United States, Armenia and Azerbaijan was held at the White House.  Within the framework of this meeting, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol  Pashinyan, US President Donald Trump and Azerbaijani President Ilham  Aliyev signed a joint declaration aimed at resolving the conflict  between Yerevan and Baku.

The TRIPP project (Trump Route for International Peace and  Prosperity, a 42-km road in the south of Armenia that will hand over  control of the road to the United States for 99 years), according to  experts, is capable of significantly changing the geopolitical  situation in the South Caucasus.
