The Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia has established that the commander of a police company within the Main Department of State Protection of the Police, using his official powers, embezzled 5,082 liters of gasoline coupons valued at 2,236,784 drams allocated for the operation of official vehicles under his responsibility, and committed forgery.
The police official was charged with the aforementioned criminal acts under Article 256, Part 2, Clauses 2 and 3, and Article 445, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. He has been temporarily suspended from his post and placed under a travel ban. Charges have also been filed against three other police officers and the director of the auto repair shop. During the preliminary investigation, damages totaling over 2 million drams were fully reimbursed.
The preliminary investigation of the criminal case has been concluded, and the case materials along with the indictment have been sent to the Anti-Corruption Court of the Republic of Armenia.
