"With Honor" party on  impeachment process: RPA has been doing  everything possible to remove Pashinyan since 2021

ArmInfo.Back in 2021, the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) promised to remove Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan from power, and the political force will do  everything to fulfill its promise. Hayk Mamijanyan, head of the "With  Honor" faction, stated this in a conversation with journalists ahead  of a parliamentary hearing on the draft law "On the National Crisis  and Failure of Governance."

The faction leader explained that the hearings organized in  parliament will serve as a platform for the opposition to identify  practical methods for removing Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan from  power.  Touching on the impeachment process itself and what will  follow if the necessary votes are secured, Mamijanyan mentioned that,  according to the draft they presented, an interim government will  need to be formed. The opposition leader noted that its  responsibilities will include addressing several issues.   Specifically, according to Mamijanyan, these include ensuring the  country's security, preventing the spread of an atmosphere of hatred  in society, ensuring economic stability, developing Armenia's armed  forces, and many more.

The faction leader also touched on the protest organized outside the  parliament during the hearings. He noted that the protest is a  demonstration of the population's demand for a vote of no confidence  in Nikol Pashinyan. "Furthermore, I would like to remind you that we  have repeatedly stated that without a street struggle, impeachment  will be simply impossible." Mamijanyan added. 

In turn, Eduard Sharmazanov, former Vice Speaker of the Armenian  Parliament and Republican Party member, emphasized that the hearings  should serve as a platform to listen to the opposition and determine  future actions. The Republican acknowledged that the support of MPs  from the ruling Civil Contract party is needed to carry out the  impeachment process, but pointed out that the main goal is to achieve  opposition consolidation. "However, our primary concern should not be  whether someone joins us or not, but whether we lose our homeland or  preserve it," Sharmazanov added.

In this regard, he mentioned that seven years ago, when he entered  the parliament building, there were two Armenian republics, 150,000  Armenians lived in Artsakh who had not been subjected to ethnic  cleansing, and 240 square kilometers of Armenia were not occupied by  Azerbaijan. "Furthermore, the government has never opposed the  Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC),  denied Mount Ararat or  international recognition of the Armenian Genocide," the RPA member  noted.

Regarding the possibility of MPs from the opposition "Armenia"  faction joining the process, Sharmazanov stated briefly: "This  possibility is always there. I have repeatedly said that politics is  an art of opportunity."
