ArmInfo. During its regular session on October 23, the Armenian government approved a bill establishing a Day of Remembrance and Reverence to honor the memory of all those who died for the Motherland in armed conflicts.
As stated in the explanatory note to the document, there is currently no special day dedicated to honoring and commemorating military personnel and others who died in military operations throughout history. Therefore, the fallen are remembered either various military event days or on January 28, Army Day, which is more of a holiday than a day of remembrance.
As a result of the bill's adoption, Army Day, the day preceding January 28, will be designated as a commemoration and veneration day-January 27 (a non-working day). This day will honor the memory of all those killed in military operations throughout history and those who died for the Motherland.
The draft of the corresponding amendments to the Law "On Holidays and Commemorative Dates" was drafted by independent MP Gegham Nazaryan and Vice Speaker of Parliament Ruben Rubinyan, a member of the "Civil Contract" faction.
