


ArmInfo. A new acting rector has been appointed at the Khachatur Abovyan Armenian Pedagogical University. This was announced on November 4 by RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan during parliamentary hearings on the 2026 draft state budget.
Earlier, the RA Anti-Corruption Committee reported the arrest of Rector Srbuhi Gevorgyan and the vice- rector. They are accused of creating and leading a criminal group consisting of university employees, committing embezzlement and fraud on an especially large scale, and accepting bribes.
As noted by the head of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, who chairs the university's Board of Trustees, all of these individuals have been suspended from their positions. A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees will be held today to discuss the university's future plans. The acting rector had several days to analyze the situation and present initial research, which will be discussed at the Council meeting. At the university itself, as the minister noted, some processes have been suspended, and it is necessary to determine whether they should be continued.
