ArmInfo. The Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia reports that the head of the Artagyugh community in the Lori region from 1996 to 2021 illegally alienated an agricultural land plot of 1.11 million hectares and a market value of 10,000,000 drams, located in the same community, to his son.
Specifically, it was established that the head of the aforementioned community, in violation of the procedure for conducting public auctions, officially organized and conducted an official auction of the aforementioned land plot in the absence of his son on May 6, 2019, with the assistance of five members of the auction committee. The son was declared the winner. Subsequently, the son submitted the necessary documents to the RA Cadastre Committee, and his ownership of the land plot was registered.
The former head of the Artagyugh community was charged with abuse of office and official forgery under Article 308, Part 2, and Article 314, Part 1 of the former Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, while his son was charged under Article 325, Part 1 of the same Criminal Code. Charges were also brought against five members of the auction committee who assisted the community head.
The preliminary investigation against the aforementioned seven individuals, including the former community head, has been completed. The criminal case materials, along with the indictment, have been sent to the supervising prosecutor with a motion for its approval and referral to the court.
