ArmInfo. Former Economy Minister Vahan Kerobyan has been detained. His brother, Avetik Kerobyan, told Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty's Armenian Service this, noting that Kerobyan's home had been searched.
Avetik Kerobyan insists that the search of his brother's home was in no way related to his tenure. Law enforcement agencies are currently investigating the motives behind the actions.
Kerobyan, who announced his resignation on February 14, 2024, was accused of abuse of power and exceeding official authority in a case involving abuses of office at the Armenian Ministry of Economy. Kerobyan spent several months under house arrest but was released in June 2024. In January 2025, Kerobyan filed a lawsuit with the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) to challenge the decision of a Yerevan court to place him under house arrest for four months.
