Moscow responds to Yerevan`s statements on `hybrid wars` 

ArmInfo.  Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova commented on the increasingly frequent talk coming out of Armenia about "hybrid wars" allegedly being waged against Yerevan, especially in light of the upcoming parliamentary elections in June 2026.

The Russian diplomat stated that, indeed, a number of such statements  have been recorded from both experts and Armenian officials,  including, for example, National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan.

Zakharova recalled that American military theorists coined the  concept of "hybrid wars" and immediately began actively putting it  into practice. In this vein, she noted that not long ago, in Georgia,  Armenia's neighbor, the countries of the "collective West" once again  showed themselves in all their "hybrid glory":  they crudely  interfered in domestic political processes, fueled "Maidan"  sentiments, denied Tbilisi the freedom to choose its development  path, and engaged in outright political blackmail, threatening to  deprive it of its already illusory European perspective.

"Such an approach is alien to us. We have always respected and will  continue to respect the sovereign choice of any people. At the same  time, we cannot help but note that statements about a 'hybrid war'  against Armenia are being made against the backdrop of persecution in  the republic of those who support developing ties with our country-as  if following a pattern that has been tested in recent years in other  countries, for example, Moldova," stated the official representative  of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

She also noted that Moscow is prepared to discuss the potential  concerns of its Armenian colleagues both through parliamentary  channels and through consultations between relevant agencies proposed  by the Russian side, including, if necessary, with the aim of  rectifying the information environment surrounding Russian-Armenian  relations.

"Russia has always been and remains a reliable ally for Armenia.  Moscow comes to the aid of its fraternal people without delay. Recent  examples include the restoration of flood-damaged railway tracks in  the north of the country in just a few weeks in June 2024. In  November of this year, wheat deliveries from our country to Armenia  were organized in the shortest possible time via the newly opened  railway route through Azerbaijan and Georgia. The first shipment  arrived on the night of November 6 of this year.

We emphasize that this event was largely made possible by the efforts  undertaken within the Trilateral Working Group on Unblocking Regional  Communications and the agreements reached between the leaders of  Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan in 2020-2022," Zakharova continued in  a statement published on the Russian Foreign Ministry website.

In conclusion, she noted that, in participating in the normalization  of relations between the aforementioned South Caucasus republics,  Russia has consistently and consistently been guided by their  sovereign national interests. "The West's mediation efforts have yet  to stand the test of time," she concluded.
