ArmInfo. Every citizen in Armenia must understand that they own their vote, and if they don't go to the polling station and fulfill their political duty, their vote will go to other voters who do. Gohar Meloyan, human rights activist and representative of the observation mission, made this statement at a press conference in Yerevan, when presented violations recorded during campaigning ahead of the Vagharshapat Council of Elders elections scheduled for November 16. The observer primarily pointed out the cases of blackmail against citizens. According to her, people were intimidated by the idea that their vote would be monitored by cameras. She also mentioned documented cases of ruling party representatives organizing charity events in Vagharshapat, noting that it is a criminal offense.
Additionally, Meloyan mentioned various types of vote-counting fraud in previous elections in the country and assured voters that their representatives would be physically present during the ballot counting in Vagharshapat to ensure that every vote is counted and reaches the candidate they actually voted for.
