ArmInfo. Eduard Aghajanyan, member of Armenia's ruling Civil Contract faction, asked Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan whether it would be worthwhile to introduce a system of "forcing" politicians who avoid public debates, given that Pashinyan has long been inviting former presidents to debates on the Nagorno-Karabakh negotiations, and the latter have consistently ignored the invitation.
"Your suggestion of "forcing" them to debates sounded funny." "A very unexpected proposal, I am not sure how to respond," Pashinyan said during the government session on November 12. According to him, he is ready to participate in public political debates. He also reiterated his previous proposal to Armenia's former leaders. The Prime Minister pointed out that although the former presidents say they have nothing to discuss with him, all their statements are in fact a discourse with Pashinyan.
Additionally, Pashinyan emphasized the public demand for the debate format he proposed. "And let parliament vote on your proposal, in consultation with the Venice Commission," the Armenian Prime Minister concluded.
