ArmInfo. Over 100 students from Russia and Armenia gathered for the 2nd Russian-Armenian Media Forum, which started today at the Russian-Armenian University (RAU). This year's forum is being held on the theme "Artificial Intelligence in Media: Threats or New Opportunities?" RAU Rector Edward Sandoyan welcomed the event's guests and speakers, stating: "Today we celebrate International Students' Day, and I sincerely congratulate you on this holiday. It is very symbolic that our event coincides with this day.
Our media forum has already become a great tradition. Three years ago, we held the first large-scale forum with the participation of experienced and aspiring journalists-those who write, film, and create multimedia content. Those who don't master new tools are already losing their competitive position in the job market. Therefore, our forum is more relevant than ever."
In his video address to forum participants, Deputy Minister of Education and Science Konstantin Mogilevsky noted: "Common historical memory and similar traditional values have always helped the peoples of Russia and Armenia understand each other well. Educational cooperation contributes to the preservation of this cultural affinity. The main goal of the platform where you have gathered today is to give young media professionals from Russia and Armenia the opportunity to prove themselves. I am confident that the media projects you create will have a long life."
Dmitry Litskay, Minister-Counselor at the Russian Embassy in Armenia, also welcomed the participants: "It is young journalists who contribute to strengthening mutual understanding between nations and developing professional cooperation. Historically, Russia and Armenia have shared a common information space, which is an important foundation for further cooperation." Vadim Fefilov, head of the Rossotrudnichestvo office in Armenia, emphasized that journalism is one of the most important and necessary professions: "Speaking of threats, I am confident that there is no real threat to journalism. The work done on the ground-field reporting, live reactions, and personal assessments-will always be in demand. I am convinced that the young journalists present here today have a bright professional future."
Karen Markaryan, Director of the Institute of Media, Advertising, and Cinema, emphasized the importance of practical work for the participants, assuring that the forum will provide a unique opportunity to create media projects in real time, learn to work in teams, and apply modern journalism tools.
The event was moderated by Marina Alekyan, Head of the Journalism Department at RAU. Students from Russia and Armenia will participate in panel discussions, master classes, lectures, and roundtables, as well as workshops on media content production. They will also enjoy tours of the ancient Zvartnots Cathedral and the Matenadaran Museum and Institute of Ancient Manuscripts. In teams, participants will create relevant media projects, including videos and social media content.
