Water price to remain unchanged next year

ArmInfo.  On November 26, at its meeting, the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) of Armenia set tariffs for drinking water supply, sanitation, and wastewater treatment services for 2026. The single system operator submitted the corresponding application to the Regulator on August 8, 2025.

As stated in the draft decision, in accordance with the terms of the  license agreement with Veolia Jur, if the deviation between the  actual total tariff for consumers and the total adjusted cost of  providing retail services in the given year does not exceed 0.5%,  then tariffs similar to the current ones will be set.

Therefore, the price of Veolia Jur CJSC's drinking water supply and  sanitation (wastewater treatment) services in 2025 for socially  vulnerable groups will remain unchanged at 180 drams, while for other  subscribers it will be 200.42 drams. As a reminder, on January 1,  2017, the new single water operator, the French company Veolia Djur,  a subsidiary of the French company Veolia Enviroment SA, assumed  management of the assets of five existing operators for a period of  15 years: Yerevan Djur, Armvodokanal, Shirak Vodokanal, Lori  Vodokanal, and Nor Akunk. At the same time, a single water tariff was  established nationwide on January 1, 2017, and for Yerevan residents,  it was increased from 170.256 drams per cubic meter to 180 drams,  including VAT. Those involved in the process hastened to assure  Armenian citizens that this increase was in their best interests, as  the funds would be used to improve the system and expand the service  network. Following the announcement of the tender results, the  company presented base tariffs for 15 years, which are adjusted based  on three factors: electricity tariffs, inflation rates, and retail  water supply volumes. Effective January 1, 2023, the water tariff for  socially vulnerable consumers remained at 180 drams per cubic meter,  while for everyone else, the tariff increased by approximately 8  drams per cubic meter-from 200.47 drams to 208.419 drams per cubic  meter (including VAT). The Armenian government offset the increase in  water tariffs in 2023 and 2024 from the state treasury. This year,  the tariff remained at the same level.
