ArmInfo. Officers from the State Revenue Committee, together with their partners from the National Security Service, thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large consignment of heated cigarettes out of Armenia, concealed from customs control. This was reported by the SRC press service.
According to the source, the incident occurred at the Bagratashen checkpoint, where an empty truck intended for transporting animals entered from Armenia. The vehicle was taken under control. X-ray inspections revealed a suspicious density around the truck's walls, and the decision was made to send the truck to a hangar for a thorough inspection. Customs officers used an endoscopic video camera to detect foreign objects inside the truck that were not in accordance with its design. Using a special cutting device, they opened the cavities, which contained approximately 22,300 packs of heated cigarettes. The cigarettes were positioned in the cavities so that they could be easily removed by pulling on the straps.
A report on this incident was filed for violation of customs regulations in accordance with Article 313 of the Law of the Republic of Armenia "On Customs Regulation."
