ArmInfo. 100 hectares of new forest will be established over three years on the lands of Lernajur settlement in the Pambak community of Lori Province. As reported to ArmInfo by the press service of the Central Bank of Armenia (CB), this initiative will be implemented as part of a trilateral memorandum between the Central Bank, the Union of Banks of Armenia, and the "My Forest Armenia" NGO.
According to the source, a total of 300,000 trees of local forest species will be planted. At the end of the community land-use period, the land and the forest ecosystem established on it will be returned to the community. "The initiative is a response to the urgent environmental issues facing Armenian residents, including air pollution, the growing risk of forest fires, soil erosion, and the threat of desertification," the Central Bank noted.
It should be noted that environmental issues have recently become particularly pressing for Armenia due to the government's policies.
