The 2nd General Assembly of the Alliance of Cultural Heritage in Asia (ACHA) and Third Council Meeting were held in Chongqing, China, bringing together delegations from more than 20 countries with member or observer status. The Armenian delegation was led by Harutyun Vanyan, Head of the Department for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments at the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports.
According to the MESCC press service, in his speech, Vanyan particularly noted the People's Republic of China's efforts to preserve Asian cultural heritage. According to him, the Republic of Armenia, as a founding member of the Asian Cultural Heritage Alliance, is willing to develop Armenian-Chinese cooperation in cultural heritage protection. The role of international organizations in preventing damage to cultural heritage due to conflicts was particularly emphasized.
During the sessions, the Secretary General of the Council was elected, and elections to the Council were held. Armenia, among other countries, was re-elected. The results of the grant provided by the Asian Cultural Heritage Alliance were also announced. The Republic of Armenia received approximately 32 million drams for the implementation of the project "Silk Road Model from the Perspective of Revealing and Preserving the Cultural Connections of Talin and Dashtadem." The project was presented by the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of the National Academy of Sciences.
